Carol Frances Barry
December 18, 1963 - January 23, 2011
Carol Frances (Snyder) Barry, age 47, died peacefully at her home in Plymouth on Sunday, January 23. She was the devoted wife of David Barry of Plymouth.
Born in Pittsfield, MA on December 18, 1963, she was the daughter of Ann (Alaskey) Snyder and the late Walter Snyder.Carol was a graduate of Pittsfield High School as well as Salem State College, where she received her bachelor's degree in Accounting. She had worked for many years as an accountant for State Street Bank in earlier years.
Carol spent her years as a homemaker heavily involved in volunteering for the community. She was a scout leader for the Girl Scouts of Plymouth and the Cub Scouts of Kingston, and taught religious education through Plymouth parishes Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha and St. Peter's. Carol was also active with Sacred Heart School in Kingston, organizing fundraisers and acting as Treasurer of the Sacred Heart Elementary Home-School Association, as well as a volunteer for the school's Bingo Association. She was condsidered a "team mother" for Sacred Heart's speech team, theatre department, and elementary school athletics. Carol did not just volunteer; she took a leadership position in whatever she did.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband, David Barry and two children; Nicholas Barry and Emily Rose Barry of Plymouth.
She leaves her mother Ann (Alaskey) Snyder of Lenox and seven siblings; Scott Snyder of Walden, NY, Steven Snyder of Lenox, Timothy and Jeffrey Snyder, both of Pittsfield, MA, Marilyn Sims of Chicopee, MA, Sandra Snyder of E. Providence, RI, and Susan Strack of Pittsfield, MA and the late Christine Low of Northboro, MA. Visitation for Mrs. Barry will take place on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth. The funeral will take place on Saturday morning , 9:00 a.m., from the Cartmell Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha, 126 South Meadow Rd, W.
