Anna Raneri, age 86, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 24th. She was the devoted wife of the late Salvatore Raneri. Loving mother of Donna Raneri-Alonardo and her husband Thomas of Medford, Andrea Raneri and her husband Mark Doyle of Plymouth, Mark Raneri and his wife Cheryl of Reading, the late Josephine Raneri-Shea and her husband Paul of Carver, and the late Salvatore Raneri. She was survived by her Grandchildren; Christina, Tommy, Christopher, John, Derek, Sarah, Taylor, Abigail, Kayla, and Lilly. Anna was also the great grandmother of Giovanni, Illaria, Madison, Nathan and Zoe. Anna was the sister of the late Elizabeth Ross, Frances Barry, and William Ross.
Born in Boston on September 1, 1935, Anna was the daughter of the late William and Sarah (Quinn) Ross. She grew up in Charlestown and was a graduate of Charlestown High School. Anna made her career as a telephone operator with the New England Telephone Company. She was known for her fantastic cooking as she loved to entertain and open her home to family and friends alike to gather, eat and enjoy each other’s company.
Anna particularly loved evenings spent in her sunroom with any number of family or friends. Her home had a revolving door, it was never uncommon for a family friend to drop in unannounced. No matter who you were or how long it had been since your last visit, you were greeted with a genuine smile and a hot meal seemingly prepared just for you. She will be missed for her welcoming and inclusive heart and her quick wit, which kept us all smiling. Anna was happiest when surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who loved her beyond measure.
A visitation will be held at the Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 619 State Rd, Plymouth (Manomet), on Wednesday, June 1st, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will take place the following day at St. Bonaventure’s Church, Plymouth (Manomet), at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery at 12:30 pm. Donations in Anna’s memory may be made to the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition, PO Box 202, Franklin MA 02038.
