Ann Masi died on December 3, 2022 in Plymouth, MA.
Ann was born on November 27, 1929, the day before Thanksgiving, in Concord, MA to Cosmo and Elena (Macera) Albano. Ann said her extended family was displeased with her timing as her Ma, Elena, was counted on to do the cooking for any, and all holidays. Ann more than made up for this error. After her birth the family moved to Somerville, MA where she was raised. Ann married Guido D Masi in 1949 and after several years and the birth of three sons moved from Somerville to Arlington, MA. Ann and Guido's home was welcoming to friends and family, they always had company, and Ann made sure that everyone who came was well fed. A common refrain from Ann when you came through her doorway was, “What can I cook for you.” Ann hosted all the holiday meals for family and anyone else who may have arrived. Ann and Guido put on the New Year’s Eve parties for many years, always plenty of food.
Ann was a hair dresser as a young adult and with her sisters operated a beauty parlor in Somerville. After raising her children, she worked in the dietary department of the Symmes Hospital in Arlington, eventually becoming the dietary kitchen supervisor. Ann's husband, Guido, passed in 1995. In 2012 Ann moved to the Plymouth area where her eldest son Paul resided.
Ann loved to cook, especially for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed knitting and playing cards. Mostly she enjoyed being with her family and friends.
Ann is survived by her sons, Paul Masi and his wife Valerie of Sagamore Beach, MA and Stephen Masi and his wife Mary of Camden, Maine; her daughter-in-law, Connie Masi of York, Maine; sisters, Concetta Babicz of Plymouth, MA and Rosalie MacDonald of Somerville, MA as well as seven grandchildren, Sara, Joey, Michael, Paul, Eric, Emily and Louis; eight great grandchildren, Harlow, Robert, Georga, Garrett, Evelyn, Sydney, Fenix and Julian, and many loving nieces and nephews. Ann was predeceased by her husband Guido; son, Robert; sister, Francis Marchetti, and brothers, Louis, and Salvatore Albano.
A period of visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court Street, Plymouth. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 12:30 pm.
