Obituaries
Alvaro de Costa Saraiva passed away peacefully at his home on October 26, 2022 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria (Perreira) Saraiva.
Alvaro was born on September 2, 1940 in Sao Miguel, Azores. Al was the son of the late Tomas and Maria de Jesus (Costa) Saraiva. He is the brother of the late Antonio Saraiva, Julio Saraiva, Tiberio Saraiva of Sao Miguel, he is survived by his brother, Jose Saraiva of Faial.
Al was a strong and supportive husband and father who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He enjoyed working in his garden and tending his grape vines. He loved watching his favorite Portuguese soccer team (Sporting CP). He looked forward to spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren as they held a special place in his heart.
Al leaves behind his children, Natercia Afanasiw and her husband James of Marshfield, Aida McClain and her husband Richard of Florida, Nelia Bruce and her husband Scott of Florida and Alvaro Saraiva, Jr. of Plymouth. He also leaves his grandchildren, Jessica and Alec Groom, Scott, Jr., and Sierra Bruce.
A period of visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court Street, Plymouth. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022, 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, 313 Court Street, Plymouth.
