Albert John Veiga, age 96, died unexpectedly at his home in Plymouth on January 24, 2013. Mr. Veiga was the devoted husband to the late Rose Theresa (Andrews) Veiga. Born in Duxbury, MA on May 18, 1916, he was the beloved son of the late Raymond and Angelina (Barboza) Veiga. He was educated in Duxbury and worked in the Asphalt business as a production foreman for Warren Brothers. He worked with his son Dennis at Veiga Construction Company in Plymouth and had also worked for Lawrence Lynch Company and Campanella Company. Mr. Veiga moved to Plymouth from Canton, MA in 1940. He was a communicant of St. Peter's Church in Plymouth, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the St. John's Club. "Al" was an avid golfer, and bowled with the Alley Kat Lanes Bowling League in Kingston. In his youth, Mr. Veiga was active as a semi-pro boxer. His kind demeanor was proven as he lived his life being a true gentleman. Mr. Veiga is survived by his loving daughter Patricia and her husband Benjamin Perry, III of Hyannis and was predeceased by his son the late Dennis Veiga.He was the cherished grandfather of Clyde Perry, Dennis Veiga, Jr., Rafe Veiga and Kelli Veiga. Great grandfather of Rafe Veiga, Jr., Jordan Veiga, Clyde Perry, Jr., and Brendan Veiga. He also leaves his great-great grand-daughter Sofia Veiga, his daughter-in-law Mary Ann Veiga and neice Barbara Ganeto. He was predeceased by his siblings John Veiga of Stoughton, Manuel Veiga of Duxbury, Ena Gonsalves of Boston and Theodore Pires of CA. Visitation at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth on Sunday, January 27, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The funeral will take place on Monday morning at (;00 a.m. from the Cartmell Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter's Church in Plymouth at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Vine Hills Cemetery, Plymouth.
